Bathroom Painting Ideas
Painting your bathroom either comes first or last in the
bathroom design process. If you've chosen to do it last, I suggest getting painting ideas and colors from the existing bathroom deco such as the tiles and accessories.
First and foremost you want to decide your color scheme but right after that you want to make sure you're looking at the right paint types. Gloss and even semi gloss paints work fantastic for bathrooms (try to stay away from flat.) Also, as far as the paint colors concerned try to use light colors in a small bathroom and you can venture into the darker colors for the larger bathrooms. Make sure you allow enough time for the paint to try, more than you would for any other room in your house. The moisture from the steam can actually cause the paint to run if it's still wet.
Important Steps When Re Painting a Bathroom
Here's a few painting ideas and suggestions for you if you're re-painting your bathroom (ordered from most important to least.)
- Wash walls, remove debris - Removing any traces of cob webs or mold/mildew is a very important part of your painting project. The new coat of paint will show any of these imperfections, never mind the health consequences of mold. Definitely an important step.
- Remove all fixtures and outlets - Rather than trying to paint around them be sure to remove them completely. This, in the long run, will make your painting much easier. If the cabinets are a pain to remove don't worry about them though.
- Use TAPE - if you talk to any painter they'll tell you tape is one of their most used tools. Use it to protect your flooring, sink, tub, toilets, and everything else that will stay during your painting.
